The debut solo album from Rogie Lucero. Rogie has played drums in RoMak & the Space Pirates, Romie Romak, Mike Diva (Vyncent Flaw), and many other interesting electronic acts from the greater Los Angeles area.
Smashing covers/remix album packed full of cats who love Dino Felipe and are willing to show it. Remixes by frequent Magicore-ers Dingle, RedSK, and Toxic Chicken. 20 tracks that will make you wet on these hot summer dayz. Also be sure to check out Dino's new musical movie. Its not for free (it costs $5) but is totally worth giving a listen through the bandcamp stream. Who knows, you might like it and be willing to dump the fortune of 5 on it.
Up and coming label Fuck It, I Quit! throws down a sickly ill three-way split/compilation featuring breakcore warriors Burglecut, Junkcore, and Headshot. All three bring their A game. Junkcore's track "c'est froid" really stands out. Part dirty banger, part nostalgic dream machine, all breakcore gold.
0N0 is a ridiculous one man technical grind/death/industrial metal outfit from Slovakia. Waaaaaaay better than you think, guaranteed. Traversing the technical death metal and grindcore terrain with incredible skill, and dabbling in sort of progressive rock and post rock realms at the same time, finished off with a smidge of industrial tendencies. Check it out.
Glasscarpenter drops a 4 track EP of extreme range within its less than 15 minute run time. The first song, "IntoChaos", starts things off in your face with distorted amens and pitched snares to tickle any breakcore fans libido. Starting from track 2, "MapleJoints", things become less straight forward. Rhythmic glitches woven between stranded cut up amens and ghostly synth leads howling. The first three tracks are relatively short, none going over the 3 minute mark. The final track however is over 7 minutes long, providing the majority of the albums run time. "EnviormentallyRetarded" is very much like a lonely yet heart warming walk through a mid day forest, on your way to a rave camp out. I was pleasantly surprised while listening, having never heard any other offerings from this artist, and being fairly musically jaded that is not an easy task. I have a feeling this release will please many a listener, from mid-90s IDM fans to the must stuck up glitch connoisseur.
The prize here is, without question, Rorcal's offering - an absolutely enveloping piece of exorcising black air. But there really couldn't be two better slabs of sound to sandwich that bad boy besides what appears here from Profond Barathre and Malvoisie. This is an epic black metal experience. Available on CD or free download from the bands on their Soundcloud page for the project. Limited to only 200 CDs, I would really like to see it get the vinyl treatment, as well. I'd snatch the shit right out of that. Get ritualistic with the digital download, if nothing else.
Some great metallic hardcore punk for that ass from a few years ago, courtesy of the always remarkable Masakari. Pay what you want or grab it for free from their Bandcamp page, along with a bunch of their other releases. The split with Alpinist is also highly recommended.
13 AMAZING TRACKS FOR FRIDAY THE 13TH, THE FIRST EVER IVIYH MIX. Like I always say, it gets dark before it gets darker, so here is “SURFING THE IVORY WAVE” hand selected by SITE MASTER! for your 13th weekend to jam so loud you can’t fucking handle it. These artists are representing some of the best labels today, this is the gold that collects on the top of the fucking gold. If you don’t trust me by now I think we’re never going to trust each other, so best not to fuck around and
ElectroAss has dropped an album containing a mash of Juke, Trap, and various other forms of bass music that is so very unlike anything from said genres. While the standard Juke plays out, you'll be surprised to hear jungle/breakcore style amens running here and there in the background. ElectroAss would fit just as well playing a House/Juke party as he would be at a Drum and Bass/Jungle/Breakcore party.
Our friends at Sirona team up with Magicore alumni Melted Cassettes to bring us a massive free release full of b-sides and unreleased material! These tracks aren't throw aways either! Some quality digi-thrash to melt your private parts and explode your libido. It also has my fav track by them, Skeleton Sprinkles, in what sounds like a slightly different version. Melted Cassettes bring a very developed sound, their own fleshed out version of digital hardcore that is in no way a Atari Teenage Riot clone or Agoraphobic Nosebleed wannabes. Cum on! ITS FREE!
The Un-zen is a side project of the awesome The Captain Kirk on LSD Experience. The Un-zen shares some similarities with TCKOLE but contains enough differences to make it stand out as its own project. Far darker and lacking in the many ravey and chiptune sounds that TCKOLE is very much defined by. The tracks are shorter most just under two minutes, giving it a very punk rock feel, which is punctuated by the driving few note synths/leads. Even the vocals feel more aggressive in their own throat wrenching way. Chug a few shitty beers and mosh in your bedroom!
Heres a dope new podcast from Hard Bass Dealers and Niveau Zero, a recent addition to the roster of the most awesome Ad Noiseam record label. Downtempo breaks and thumpin' bass (in various forms) are expertly offered in a one hour and a half live set/podcast packaging. Also features an interview (in French) with Niveau Zero, backed by some choice metal and a lil Chris Clark. Some might know Niveau from his recent remix of Bong-ra. Don't miss out!
YOU'RE BOUT TO BE FACE FUCKED! Iamdeadsmiles58 and James Doesn't Exist slap down a mean helping of ass meat (also known as hardcore ass music) for ya'll to slurp up Albert Fish stylee. Primarily digital grindcore with smatterings of breakcore, neo classical strings, a lil bit of hip hop lyricism, butt breakin' bass, and alot more that is beyond my feeble abilities to describe. This is definitely some of the best stuff I've heard from Deadsmiles and some of the most diverse work from James. Comes with a gnar video from Iamdeadsmiles58 (so be patient on the dl time!). PLUS this is a Torn Flesh release. Can't go wrong with Torn Flesh!
A monster of a comp is unleashed in this the most patriotic of times. the United State of Americore 2012 compilation is 38 massive choons put together by some of the finest breakcore producers North America has to offer. Tracks from Sir.Vixx, Graz, Foxdye, Selector Catalogue, Vankmen, and more! Plus theres some new comers like my indiana buddy Skinny Pete. This will be the soundtrack to your summer.
Necro doom extreme. That's pretty accurate. Pummeling and suffocating, France's Karcavul deliver four tracks of ritualistic brutality with their EP "Rawctaver". Grimy sludge covered doom from the darkest recesses of heavy metal music, hinting at black metal sometimes and death metal others. Just disgusting and invasive in every way, you'll be trying to scrub this one out of you in the shower for the next month. Pick up a lmited edition tape or CD for just 5€, or grab the download for free.
Argentinian lycanthropy themed death metal that's just as tough as the cover artwork would suggest. Super tight blastbeats and precision double kickdrum workouts, clean riffage that meanders from shredding super picking to sweeping atmospheric noodling, and beastly monstrous growls for vocals. Heavy duty.
Hardcore music, the metal version of it, is a particular thing. A band is either incredible at crafting it, or an utter failure at merely attempting to. That's just how it is. Furthermore, it's rare for a new release to pack the kind of punch and be as far ahead of the curve as some artists, such as Converge, who laid the groundwork back in the day for what most only try to do today. But the German four man crew of kids calling themselves Depravation are one such act who manages to not only hold a candle to the hardcore gods, but also far outshine them in places. Additionally, the darkness of quality and legitimate black metal is thrown on the fire, igniting a special flame that becomes one with truly marvelous hardcore music.
An absolute potent concoction, their 3 track release is available for purchase on a supremely unique and ultra limited cassette scenario where you get either a white or black cassette, all with different covers and each hand numbered in humanblood. Yeah, I ordered my copy.
If you're scared of catching some communicable disease or are a little late hitting that order button, you can get the download for free via the band's Bandcamp page. And, to put it plainly - you should.
I've been on vacation both mentally and physically. Please excuse my absence the past month or two, but damn shit gets how the kids say "cray!" Here is the newest release on Dance Corps and it is totally free!
"To celebrate the music of the Mother series
several artists have banded together to create the most nostalgic
tribute to these games they could muster. Their music takes you on a
journey beyond the end of Mother 2/EarthBound, meeting new characters
and even a few new enemies."
