Anarchy Effects (FREE VST/AU PACK)

Grab some new toys for production fun timez. From the Anarchy Rhythms site: "Anarchy Rhythms is a hybrid between an effect and a drum machine. It takes an audio input and applies a user-controlled matrix of amplitude modulation, bandpass filtering, feedback loops, internal oscillation and compression. It allows you to compose rhythmic patterns from the sonic timbre of the input."

Matheus - Work The Math

Copious amounts of splatter breaks, rave leads, and bubbling bass lines. Super cracked out jungle. 90s rave puked from a breakcore sound system. Everything sounds crisp and clear. Well chosen samples provide extra energy compelling you to bang your head and simultaneously fluid. Even the more subdued parts are nearly bursting with barely contained energy. More on the jungle side compared to alot of breakcore releases these days. Track four "News Please" starts off with some clever faux-news samples of the raunchy variety which lead nicely into a heavy hitting ravecore banger. While everything is well produced and edited, there is an over use of certain rave-y synths/leads and jungle bass. The usage of said sounds does provide a continuing theme, though a little variation would have stepped things up a notch. The title track "Work The Math" begins with a melancholy string section seemingly promising a path different from the first five tracks, but it quickly falls back in with the vibe of the rest of the album. It would have been awesome to have the initial strings come back in to create a more energized emotionally compelling track. "Yesterday" provides an answer to these problems. Finally breaking away from the themes of the majority of the record, you're reminded of greats like Squarepusher and Wisp. Emotionally stirring arrangements and spot on vocal sampling backed with nicely edited breaks which are a tad more toned down. THis blends into a beautiful entity. "Serious" also breaks away from the standard sound of the release. It begins with a playful IDM ditty that eventually evolves into a pretty hard and dark breakcore jam. "Unknown Vibes" is wonderfully jazzy, another instance where we are reminded of Squarepusher's apparent influence on Matheus. That said, this is no rip off. The rhodes get trippy in delay land having fun playing with all their panning partners in crime. Hi-hats and rides dance between your ears swinging back and forth while snares set the pace and the rhodes piano continues to soothe and make things rather stoney. "Work The Math" ends with "The End of the Beginning", a distinctly Matheus breakcore banger clocking in at just over ten minutes long. The real stand-out tracks have to be "Yesterday" and "Unknown Vibes". Despite the fact you may be reminded of other talented artists, they are unique to Matheus and reveal sounds and potential that will keep you wondering how Matheus will grow in future releases. "Work The Math" is a solid full length of breakcore tinged jungle with the odd IDM flourishes that will keep you coming back to the Matheus trough for more. Co-released by Sociopath Recordings and Core Collective Records. Core Collective Records is co-owned by Matheus and another great UK producer, MATT:Scratch.

disrupt - Samurai Showdown/Last Blade (JAHTARI net 7" series)

JAHTARI is an interesting label. For one, they release 8-bit/chip style reggae, dub, dancehall, etc. They also do what they call net 7 inches, releases set up to be much like a physical 7", even going as far as to include the sound of the needle hitting wax and looping before and after the music. Disrupt's net 7" is superb. Taking vibe and imagery from the awesome classic 2D fighter "Samurai Showdown" and slapping a smokey skank on it. Disrupt also draws inspiration from classic Japanese characters such as Zatoichi (get the full run down on all the dopeness that inspired this album from the link below). Its been raining alot here today in Chicago and the stoney groove of "Samurai Showdown" and "Last Blade" mix perfectly with the calming pitter patter of the foggy wetness outside. Japanese wind instruments mixed with classic reggae guitar licks made a perfect accompaniment to a hazey chill out session. Careful while listening and playing the releases namesake.... these are jams for after the battles done.

Kamikaze Deadboy - Thanatophobia

This 5-track valentine's day record release by UK auteur Kamikaze Deadboy is lush with vibe. Straightforward and fun, this melded-genre record really connected with me from second one. It feels instantly classic, like it's been in your library for years- and brings you a delightful mix of film-score instrumental sounds, battle record tier samples, glitchy melody bits and a smattering of head-nodding hip-hop/triphop esque beats. The percussion is just perfectly understated, complementing the melodic aspects- and the vibes are just non-stop; holy shit- just so wonderfully bouncy and groovy. I dare you to listen to it just once- and then tell me about it so I can ridicule you to anyone who will listen.

It's a really pleasant ill-scape journey through the mind of Kamikaze Db, skipping out on the pretentious wankery a lot of artists like to put into their work- the record doesn't need to tell you it's deep- it just delivers you a quick, full listen that begs you to download it and play it on loop. I can't get enough.

The Scene of the Shining Sun by JDSY

The scene of the Shining Sun is the newest release by Ghostly Intl. artist JDSY. The album's title track is reminiscent of early Beck while also maintaining its own unique flavor and ethereal elements throughout all the productions. Both eerie and soothing, this album is a good way to start off your week.

i, cactus - slipknot are really fucking hard

Photobucket

this album is all over the place. at times its digital hardcore-ish chiptune, other times its quite reminiscent of Stuntrock (track 3). Then it will switch up into ambient glitchy idm kinda stuff a la Mouse on Mars. Will you go on a trip with i, cactus? I did. Besides some inappropriate touching, it was a blast!

Marcanta - Lynx

Photobucket

Fuckin' nasty 3 track EP from Marcanta on the fabulous Breakcore.NL Music. Never heard of Marcanta before this. I am happily relieved of that ignorance. Supremely unique backgrounds for sweet well crafted amen edits. Its like a 16 bit jungle invaded my mind on the wings of some mighty divine bird with snare rushes for feathers. The last track "Rubberoom - White Hot Razors (Marcanta Remix)" gets utterly brutal. Raging rhymes, breakcore, and br00t4l metal flourishes. Do YOURSELF a favor, PUNCH a RAVER.

V/A - Tunedere Vol. 2

Photobucket

New compilation coming from Tsundere Violence, one of the few active lolicore focused labels around. CDR kicks off the album with a pretty sweet mix of jungle leaning breakcore with a dash of wub wub and japanese vocal sampling. NoSleeves drops a track that is all over the place in all the right ways, jumpin through genres (breakcore, chiptune, jcore, numerous EDM genres) like nobodies business. Just wish it was mastered a little better, the sound is a tad murky. Pencil has a short and sweet lolicore banger after my own heart, though poorly mastered, sounds like its coming from inside a wet boot taking away from sound like well edited drums and a well chosen vocal track. Rotten Blood's two tracks are probably my favorites. Very well produced lolicore/breakcore all around dopeness. Neko Girl's Litter Box throws down three tracks, my favorite being "lolimaidbukkake.jpeg" being very reminiscent of my buddy Tropical Pain Forest. Omorashi's "Grapefruit" brings downtempo hip hop-y glitchy-ness to the fold, not too repetitive patterns develop and flow well. Himeko Katagiri's (who is also Omorashi and about 10 other aliases) offering,"On Your Ass Like Some Drawers", shows a continued improvement in his production abilities. Sounding pretty awesome! Rotten Blood comes at you with some pretty sweet lolicore consumables. Strange Toy (who also appears as The Bad Samurai on the compilation) provides some pretty cool jittery cut ups a la breakcore status. Noise, Vocaloid, Amens.... pretty much sums up this compilation. If those three things sound good to you, this is a compilation for you. Be sure to check out some of the other releases up on Tsundere Violence's website. They have a couple hundred releases for their two years of existence and they are all FREE!

V/A - 100LEGS: ONE HUNDRED CURSES

 height=

30 tracks of FUCKING HARDCORE awesome. Legs Akimbo Records reaches 100 releases. Fantastic label. Putting out everything dirty noisy angry brutal terror anything core since 2010. Matheus' track has some pretty fuckin' sweet edits goin' on. Egodiscordia's track caught my attention with its continual evolution of sound that keeps you interested all the way through. Legs Akimbo regulars like Hersernoise, Skat Injector, and Noistruct all lend tracks. While all the music on this compilation is of a 'hard' or 'noisy' variety, it stays interesting not only because of the top quality of the music but the mass cross breeding of genres. You like noise? You like breakcore? You like speedcore? Hop on! AND PUNCH A RAVER! (oh by the by, our boy J.DECKER did the sweet menstru-bloody logo!)

SISTERS - Slut Bath

 height=

cOmaRecOrdz lists SISTERS as "Catwave, Post-trap, Coastgoth". I can't really think of an appropriate genre tag. Not a bad thing either. Some thoughts I've had while listening: "is this what breakcore sounds like real slowed down?" "this would go well as a jrpg soundtrack" "coastgoth? wtf is coastgoth?" and on. Interesting listen, I tagged as conceptual because the intensity (or lack there of) of the music allows your mind to wander and help shape the music into your own little psuedo-magicore adventure. Grab from cOmaRecOrdz now, direct download or torrent. do both. seed that shit. be a digital sea pirate yaar. maybe thats what coastgoth means?
